All of us used to send letter or settle bills in Post office before. Did you know how actually the letter is procecssed before we received from our friends?
In order to find out, our K1 & K2 students had visited Post Office Kulim on 23.4.09. We are very lucky to have Encik Abu Bakar and En. Mahat to explain to us. They are both very friendly and warm.

We were brought to second floor where we saw piles of letters and postman busy categorizing them according to house number.

According to En. Mahat, Post office Kulim has 31 postmen and 4 officers. The areas they cover are, kulim, Sg Ular, Lunas, Junjung and Kulim Hitech. Everyday, the postmen has to send about 27,000 letters to every house. If it is Friday or Public Holiday, the letters will be double!

Everyday, all the letter collected by the postmen from the red post box will be send to Sg Petani at 5.30pm. In Sg. Petani, the letter will be categorized according to Taman. Then, the next day morning, by 7.30am, the letters will be sent back to Kulim for delivery. So the postmen will arrange according to the route they will send.

En. Mahat explained that the normal white envelop, we need only RM0.30 stamps, however, for brown colour envelop, we need t pay RM0.50 stamps. He also advised us to write the address of receiver properly and it will be better to write sender address at the back too. This is to avoid if the address of receiver is wrong, they can sent back the letter to the owner.

The postmen uniformed will be changed in another 1-2 months time. The new uniform colour is red, blue and white compared to blue colour now. We are lucky to have the glimpse of the new uniform!

Due to the space constraints and they have 31 postmen, Bahagian Serahan will shift to Kilang lama this year. However, the counter will still operate as usual.

Encik Abu Bakar also shown us the postmen motorcycle, post express counter, stamp counter and multi service counter.

Before we end our education trip, each student sent a letter by putting the letter to the post box.

Last but not least, we want to thank En. Abu Bakar, En. Mahat, and all staffs in Post Office Kulim for the details explanation. All of them are warm and friendly! Thank you!
