Visit to Post Office Kulim

We are waiting at the newly renovated counter at Post Office!
We are taking photos with our postmen in old uniform!

En. Mahat explained how they processed the letter!

Kai Yi press the number and pay the Bil at the multi service counter.

All of us used to send letter or settle bills in Post office before. Did you know how actually the letter is procecssed before we received from our friends?
In order to find out, our K1 & K2 students had visited Post Office Kulim on 23.4.09. We are very lucky to have Encik Abu Bakar and En. Mahat to explain to us. They are both very friendly and warm.

We were brought to second floor where we saw piles of letters and postman busy categorizing them according to house number.

According to En. Mahat, Post office Kulim has 31 postmen and 4 officers. The areas they cover are, kulim, Sg Ular, Lunas, Junjung and Kulim Hitech. Everyday, the postmen has to send about 27,000 letters to every house. If it is Friday or Public Holiday, the letters will be double!

Everyday, all the letter collected by the postmen from the red post box will be send to Sg Petani at 5.30pm. In Sg. Petani, the letter will be categorized according to Taman. Then, the next day morning, by 7.30am, the letters will be sent back to Kulim for delivery. So the postmen will arrange according to the route they will send.

En. Mahat explained that the normal white envelop, we need only RM0.30 stamps, however, for brown colour envelop, we need t pay RM0.50 stamps. He also advised us to write the address of receiver properly and it will be better to write sender address at the back too. This is to avoid if the address of receiver is wrong, they can sent back the letter to the owner.

The postmen uniformed will be changed in another 1-2 months time. The new uniform colour is red, blue and white compared to blue colour now. We are lucky to have the glimpse of the new uniform!

Due to the space constraints and they have 31 postmen, Bahagian Serahan will shift to Kilang lama this year. However, the counter will still operate as usual.

Encik Abu Bakar also shown us the postmen motorcycle, post express counter, stamp counter and multi service counter.

Before we end our education trip, each student sent a letter by putting the letter to the post box.

Last but not least, we want to thank En. Abu Bakar, En. Mahat, and all staffs in Post Office Kulim for the details explanation. All of them are warm and friendly! Thank you!

Sushi Making Session

Safety and Health Campaign

In conjuction with QQ Safety and Health campaign, QQ had organized a trip to Sushi Kin Autocity and Petroscience BKE. The objectives of the trips were to expose our children to healthyJapanese food-sushi. Besides that, they also learned some basic Japanese word such as :

Irashaimase- Welcome

Ohio - Good Morning

Arigato - Thank you

Ebiko - fish roe

Hangiri - rice tub

Nigiri sushi- sushi with topping

Temaki - hand roll sishi.

Children were so excited as they reached Sushi Kin at 9am. First, they washed their hand, get seated. Our coach Ms. Molly Chan has explained to give us an explaination on how the sushi is made. Then, the Chef, demonstrated to us how to make nigiri suhi and gunkan sushi. The most interesting part is the children will have a chance to make their own nigiri and gunkan sushi! Then, every table we will choose one rrepresentative who can make good sushi to compete.

Fantastic! our children can make their sushi just like the chef and won prizes! Later, they enjoyed the sushi they made at the restaurant. It seems the sushi is never been so tasty before!

Actually when we organised this eduation trip for our K1 and K2 students, some parents are reluctant to let their child to participate. The reasons they gave was, my child does not eat sushi, it is very dangerous, can teacher control them?

I just felt sad for the children as they are looking forward to go. Again, they have lost a valuable learning oppotunity. When children are with us on the educational trip, they behave well! They learned to be independent, take care of thier own belongings, take care of themselves as wells as taking care of their friends. They can interaact and socialize freely with friends and adults in real world. They also learned that Japanese Food is not about raw food. Whether they like the food or not, it does not matter, at least they are exposed to Japanese Food and they have tried before. Most importantly, they are happy and enjoyed the trip!

Hopefully, parents will realize the importance for the learning trip and encurage their children to participate in the future.
